RMH6000 Conventional Raman Pumps
MPBC provides Conventional (or first-order Raman pumps) based on either Raman Fiber Lasers (RFL) or multiplexed laser diodes. The Raman Fiber Laser (RFL) configuration is used for high power distributed Raman applications. The Multiplexed Laser Diode configuration is used for lower power (> 1W) distributed amplification applications and/or for co-pumping applications.
Conventional Raman Pumps (RFL)
MPBC’s Raman Fiber Laser (RFL) pumps provide 1st-order distribute Raman amplification to increase the reach or system margin of a fiber optic network. The RFL configuration utilizes multiple multimode diodes for redundancy, to pump a highly reliable optical fiber train, to produce Raman gain in the 14xx nm region for 1550-nm signal amplification.
The multimode pumps are “hot-swappable” and allow for “soft failure protection” of the RFL pump, for extremely high reliability and high availability. The RFL pumps are equipped with OSC coupling optics to seamlessly incorporate the FIM module for Hazard Level 1M operation.

Multiplex Laser Diode Counter-Pumps (LDP)
For Distributed Raman preamplification requiring less than 1W of output power, the LDP Raman pump provides a cost effective solution. The LDP configuration utilizes multiple single-mode 14XX-nm pumps which are combined and depolarized, to provide the required output power to meet the necessary optical budget. Units are equipped with OSC coupling optics to seamlessly incorporate the FIM module for Hazard Level 1M operation.

Multiplex Laser Diode Co-Pumps (MLD)
For co-pump applications, multiple single mode 14XX-nm pumps are used to provide Raman amplification from the Tx end of the link, in the same direction as the signals are travelling. The MLD Raman co-pump provides amplification across the entire C-band with total output powers up to 2W. Units are equipped with OSC coupling optics to seamlessly incorporate the FIM module for Hazard Level 1M operation.
