Asymmetric Optical Interleaver
Conventional Optical Interleaver is Symmetric Optical Interleaver. By "Symmetric" we mean that both "Odd" and "Even" channels have the same passband widths and waveforms. Optoplex offers a new type of Optical Interleaver whose "Odd" and "Even" channels have different passband widths and waveforms. This is FlexSlicer™ Asymmetric Optical Interleaver.
Based on Optoplex’s patented technologies, FlexSlicer™ Asymmetric Optical Interleaver has superior passband and dispersion characteristics that are particularly suitable for 40-Gb/s data-rate. A major feature of the device is that customer has the freedom of specifying the ratio of the passband widths for Odd and Even channels for the two interleaving ports. FlexSlicer™ has passed the reliability testing based on Telcordia GR-1221 requirements.
Being the first of its kind, FlexSlicer™ Asymmetric Optical Interleaver has been developed specifically to help telecommunication carriers to ease the migration from low to high data-rate (2.5 ~ 10 Gb/s or 10 ~ 40 Gb/s). With the help of FlexSlicer™, low and high data-rate signals can coexist in the same infrastructure and utilize the same telecommunication equipment. The carriers can retain the current investment while introducing the high data-rate services with minimum incremental cost.
